The Thinking Conservator (2015 and 2016)

This blog was originally designed as a collaborative project between participants in the workshop "Contemporary Issues in Art Conservation" held at the Iziko South African National Gallery and the Center for Curating the Archive at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.  It was envisioned as a place where students could post their reflections and responses to the issues and readings being discussed in class.  It was also used as a way of ensuring that all the voices in the room were represented.  Student facilitators began each day of the class reading their own and their colleagues' comments and links, thus building on previous conversations while offering new avenues for discussion.

In 2016, undergraduate students in the Johns Hopkins course "Critical Issues in Art Conservation" continued working on the same platform, updating but also following up on conversations that had begun the previous years in Cape Town.
